Mendota’s British-style slip lead is the original product that built their reputation, and it’s still the one professional trainers and serious handlers use. A slip lead combines collar and lead in one — loop goes over the dog’s head, leather slide adjusts to hold position, brass ring sits up behind the ears where it should be. There’s nothing to clip, nothing to fumble. You move fast when you need to. The 4’ length keeps the dog close — right for heeling work, kennel loading, and precise control during training sessions.

Made from braided multi-filament polypropylene with oil-tanned leather splices and all-brass hardware. Waterproof, colorfast, and grippy in wet conditions without being coarse on the hands. Mendota has made this lead the same way since 1994.

4’ vs. 6’: The 4’ slip lead is the training and close-handling length. The 6’ slip lead gives more range for exercise and field walking. If in doubt, most trainers start with the 6’.
